PM of the Peace Govt reiterates commitment to the Quad Initiative

 Prime Minister, Mohamed Hassan El-Ta’aishi of the Peace and Unity Government affirmed his government’s commitment to the Quartet initiative, previously proposed by the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to end the war in Sudan.

In an interview with (Sky News Arabia), El-Ta’aishi stated, “We affirm our commitment to the Quartet initiative and its initial declaration, as we believe that the agreed-upon principles are suitable as a basis for a humanitarian truce and a comprehensive peace process in Sudan.”

He emphasized that “The Peace Government trusts the United States and the Quartet leadership, as well as US President Donald Trump, his interest in the Sudanese issue, and the policies of the US Republican Party, which support peace efforts in Sudan.”

On another note, El-Ta’aishi described the project of (Tasis) as “a truly unifying project,” indicating that it is amongst the most supportive of the current proposals for Sudanese unity. He went on to add that it “focuses on addressing the root causes of the political crisis.”

According to the Prime Minister, “The flaws in Sudanese politics, particularly regarding the risks of secession, are well-known,” hence, he affirmed that his government “has addressed the aforementioned risks directly by proposing clear solutions to the historical imbalances.”

Furthermore, El-Ta’aishi pointed out that “Amongst the priorities of the project are coming to an agreement in regards to the definition of the State, formulating a comprehensive national project, and a new social contract. These policies represent the true foundations for preserving Sudan’s unity and strengthening its stability.”
