President Museveni receives the Peace GovtDelegation headed by the President of the Presidential Council

His Excellency Yoweri K. Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda, received His Excellency Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, the President of the Peace Government’s Presidential Council, and his accompanying delegation at the State House in Entebbe today, Friday. The delegation constituted of the Vice President of the Presidential Council, Commander Abdel Aziz Adam Al-Hilu; Mr. Al-Tahir Abu Bakr Hajar, a member of the Presidential Council; Dr. El-Hadi Idris Yahya, a Council member as well as Governor of the Region of Darfur; Dr. Mabrouk Mubarak Salim, a Council member and Governor of Eastern Sudan Region; and Ms Khuldi Fathi, who is a member of the Council as well. In addition to the Prime Minister, Mr. Mohamed Hassan Osman El-Ta’aishi; the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Ibrahim Al-Mirghani; the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ammar Amum; and a member of the Leadership Council of the Sudan Founding Alliance, Sultan Ahmed Ayoub Ali Dinar of Darfur.

 

Furthermore, the President of the Presidential Council expressed sincere congratulations to His Excellency President Yoweri Museveni for gaining the trust of the brotherly Ugandan people and winning the presidential elections.

The meeting discussed the distinguished bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and attempted to conceive approaches that aim to support and develop the aforementioned relations in a manner that serves the interests of the people of both nations and the region. 

In addition, the meeting addressed the current situation in the country in light of the raging war, and the latter’s impact on the Sudanese people, particularly in humanitarian terms.

The Chairman of the Presidential Council provided the Ugandan President with a detailed briefing on the latest political, security, and humanitarian developments in Sudan, as well as the efforts undertaken by the Peace Government to end the war and achieve peace across the country.

 

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ammar Amum stated in a press conference that the visit to Kampala came in response to a kind invitation from the Ugandan President.

He went on to affirm that they sensed understanding and sincere intentions from the Ugandan President in regards to the Sudanese crisis, as well as the appropriate means that could be implemented in an effort to stop the war and achieve a just and sustainable peace that succeeds in addressing the root causes of the crisis.

Commander Mohamed Hamdan Daglo had previously visited Uganda on his first foreign trip following the outbreak of the ongoing war, as part of a tour that included several African countries, such visits serve to reflect the high regard President Yoweri Museveni enjoys across the African continent and his historical role in maintaining security, stability, and peace.
