On Monday, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) targeted the Adré border crossing with Chad using a drone, the attack resulted in the unfortunate destruction of large quantities of international aid intended for civilians affected by the war in the regions of Darfur and Kordofan.
The Adré border crossing is a vital route that connects Sudan and Chad, furthermore, it serves as a crucial humanitarian lifeline for delivering aid and commercial supplies to civilians affected by the ongoing conflict.
The Sudanese Armed Forces’ most recent act of bombing aims to disrupt the flow of humanitarian aid and obstruct relief efforts, which, in turn, will naturally exacerbate the suffering of innocent civilians and deepen the humanitarian crisis in conflict-affected areas.
In addition, the most recent attack wasn’t the first of its kind, but the second, disregarding the fact that such incidents involving the Adréborder crossing pose a direct threat to the operations of humanitarian organizations, as they endanger the lives of aid workers as well as civilians. Furthermore, such attacks constitute a flagrant violation of International Humanitarian Law and all international norms and conventions that aim to protect civilian facilities and aid corridors.
