Tasis: SAF Bombed and Burned Markets in Darfur and Kordofan

The Sudan Founding Alliance (Tasis) stated that regional and international silence emboldens “criminals” to commit further crimes, including genocide, ethnic cleansing, and the killing of innocent civilians, in an effort to prolong the war.

The Alliance accused the Sudanese Armed Forces’ Air Force of targeting markets in the regions of Darfur and Kordofan, resulting in the deaths and injuries of dozens of civilians.

Furthermore, the Sudanese Army’s Air Force has repeatedly been accused of bombing residential areas and civilian infrastructure, leading to civilian casualties, in addition to repeated attacks on UN Convoys.

Dr. Alaa El-Din Awad Nugud, the official spokesperson for the Sudan Founding Alliance (Tasis), stated in a press release that “The terrorist Muslim Brotherhood’s Air Force” targeted the town of Jabal Issa’s market, in Al-Malha locality, North Darfur on Sunday evening, using drones.

He added that this particular crime had devastating results, as the town’s market was burned to the ground and “23 civilians were martyrd, amongst whom were shop owners, vendors, and other citizens.”

The statement continued: “In another crime that serves to confirm the utilization of a similar criminal approach, the Sudanese Army and its Islamist militias bombed the market of Abu Za’ima in North Kordofan state yesterday. This market is usually crowded with civilians.”

The official spokesperson confirmed that the bombing resulted in the deaths of five civilians and the injury of 30 others, amongst whom are women and the elderly, “in a criminal act that threatens the lives of civilians and blatantly disregards all international laws and norms.”

“The crimes committed by the terrorist Sudanese Armed Forces continue amidst complete regional and international silence, which emboldens these criminals to commit further crimes, including genocide, ethnic cleansing, and the killing of civilians, in an effort to persist in prolonging this war,” according to the Sudan Founding Alliance’s statement.

The statement emphasized that the Sudan Founding Alliance will continue to put forth diligent efforts to eradicate “this criminal group” by all means necessary and stand against its plans to divide the country and displace its people.
