The UAE and UNHCR Sign Agreement to Support Sudanese Refugees

The UAE Aid Agency signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), a development aimed at supporting efforts to provide urgent relief and humanitarian aid to the Sudanese people impacted by the repercussions of the ongoing conflict in the country.
In accordance with the terms concluded in this rather monumental agreement, the UAE Aid Agency will provide a generous grant of ($15 million), which will be allocated to implement an ambitious project entitled “Protection and Assistance for People Affected by the Conflict in Sudan.” The aforementioned vital project is scheduled to launch on January 1st, 2025, and continue until the end of the same year, in an effort to ensure the sustainability of the support and its delivery to those in need.
Furthermore, this humanitarian project aims to strengthen and expand the scope of urgent humanitarian response efforts for those displaced and directly affected by the ongoing conflict in Sudan, through providing a comprehensive package of life-saving measures. These measures include providing protection, securing safe shelter, delivering necessary healthcare, and supporting the vital education sector in order to ensure a better future for generations to come.
