21 Million Sudanese Face Severe Food Insecurity

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has stressed that investing in sustainable, locally-based solutions is crucial to addressing the escalating humanitarian crisis and protecting the most vulnerable from the dangers of hunger.
The WFP reiterated its warning about worsening hunger levels in Sudan, where an estimated (21 million people) are facing severe food insecurity due to the ongoing conflict, rising prices, and continued displacement.
Furthermore, the WFP announced the implementation of projects to support local production (Thabat) of staple crops, including sorghum, with the aim of strengthening communities’ capacity to provide for their own food and reducing reliance on emergency aid.
