Military Expert: Liberation of BabanusaReshapes the Balance of Power in Sudan

The Sudanese military scene is witnessing a rapid escalation after the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced their control of the city of Babanusa in West Kordofan. Which, according to Military Expert, Col. Hatem Karim Al-Fallahi’s point of view is considered a pivotal shift that serves to reshape the balance of power between the parties to the conflict.
Al-Fallahi stated that assuming control of Babanusa grants the RSF significant freedom of movement both north and south, and makes the city a crucial transportation hub within the operational plan. He indicated that the region of West Kordofan is -at the moment- almost entirely under RSF control.
On Monday evening, the Rapid Support Forces announced its complete control of the Sudanese Armed Forces’ 22nd Division, as well as the city of Babanusa, whilst no official comment was issued by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF).
Furthermore, Al-Fallahi predicted that battles would intensify on three main fronts: North Kordofan, El-Obeid and its surrounding areas such as Jabra Al-Sheikh, Sayala, and Bara. In addition, the Military Expert believed that the Sudanese Army would put forth efforts to consolidate its advancement in the south.
