Tasis Comments on Chemical Weapons Issue and Al Burhan’s Speech

The Sudan Founding Alliance (Tasis) expressed its gratitude to the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of African Affairs for confirming the Sudanese Armed Forces’ use of internationally prohibited chemical weapons. The Alliance described an article by the Commander-in-Chief of (SAF) and Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, published in the Wall Street Journal as riddled with lies and contradictions.

On Wednesday, the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of African Affairs called on the Sudanese government to immediately acknowledge the violations committed in relation to the use of internationally prohibited chemical weapons, urging the government to cease any further use of these weapons, and calling for full cooperation with the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in an effort to address the violations.

Confirmation of the Crime

In a press statement, the Sudan Founding Alliance spokesperson Alaa El-Din Nugudshared that the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of African Affairs confirmed the crime of using internationally prohibited chemical weapons “by the Muslim Brotherhood’s Army and the dissolved National Congress regime” against the Sudanese people in this war, “for which the Muslim Brotherhood bears responsibility for igniting.”

He added, “This particularly heinous crime, committed by the so-called Army is no more than one link in the chain of crimes perpetrated by this global terrorist organization, of which the National Congress Party (NCP) in Sudan is a key pillar. For Sudan is the only country where this group managed to successfully seize power and forcefully maintain it for 30 years, during which they divided the country, killed the people, spread hatred and racism, and transformed Sudan into a hotbed of terrorism and terrorists.”

According to Nugud, “This terrorist regime -simply- doesn’t hesitate to lie to the Sudanese people, the regional community, or the international community. As we witnessed, reading the article attributed to the criminal Military Commander, Al-Burhan, in the prestigious Wall Street Journal, which was riddled with lies and contradictions.”

The official spokesperson pointed out that the article at times claims that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) rebelled against the State, thus, he shared in response, “There has been no State following the coup of (October 25th, 2021), a coup that President Mohamed Hamdan Daglo acknowledged and apologized for, in the aftermath, he strongly supported the Framework Agreement. However, the latter prompted them to ignite the war in an effort to eliminate the RSF and deliver a final blow to the revolution that was diligently supported and championed by the RSF.”

Al-Burhan’s Contradictions

The statement went on to point out that Al-Burhan spoke of realizing that the Rapid Support Forces were a “powder keg ready to explode,” yet he himself had previously stated that he was the one who convinced its leader to participate in the Sovereign Council during the Transitional Period. In addition, he was the one who worked to amend the RSF Act, granting the latter greater freedom and power, “He didn’t realize that these forces would bring about the downfall of his rule and the demise of his terrorist regime, comprised of remnants of the Muslim Brotherhood.”

Furthermore, in his statement, Nugudexpressed bewilderment and condemnation that “someone who used internationally prohibited chemical weapons against innocent civilians, ignited the war, continues to intransigently insist on its continuation, and sabotages peace efforts, would have the opportunity to write an article in a prestigious newspaper like the Wall Street Journal.”

“The Sudanese people and the entire world ought to confront this terrorist organization. For it continues to fan the flames of war, to fuel them with its pronouncements and incitement of youth, as witnessed in the recent statements issued by the Assistant Commander of the terrorists’ Army, Yasser Al-Atta, and their rejection of a humanitarian truce, as well as the statements of the terrorists of Al-Baraa Ibn Malik, who consider any Sudanese citizen present in areas controlled by the Government of Tasis to be a collaborator and deserving of death,” according to the official spokesperson for (Tasis).

He emphasized that such statements ought to be taken seriously, and those who uttered such words must be prosecuted.

In conclusion, the statement called on the world not to be lenient with “the likes of Al-Burhan and his allies,” so as not to open doors or provide them with platforms “to spread their poison and lies in the name of the Sudanese people or in the name of the marginalized and oppressed.”
