US Opens Advanced Chips Gateway to G42UAE Emerges as the New Global AI Hub

The UAE-based G42 Group has received the green light from the United States to import the most advanced artificial intelligence chips, a decision the White House described as reflecting “deep trust” between the two countries and an acceleration of the transition from planning to actual implementation of the largest US-UAE AI campus.

The approval allows G42 to operate the “Stargate UAE” project –a 1GW computing complex the company is building for OpenAIin partnership with Oracle, Cisco, NVIDIA, and SoftBank– and support the largest US-UAE AI campus, a 5GW facility that will provide low-latency computing and inference for the entire region.

With this achievement, the UAE positions itself as a secure and reliable alternative to US and Asian data centers, cementing its status as a new global AI hub that combines exceptional performance with geopolitical confidence, ushering in a completely new phase in the global race for technological supremacy.

“This announcement marks a truly pivotal moment,” according to Peng Xiao, the CEO of G42. He added, “Today, we are moving from planning to robust execution, setting a new global standard for secure, high-performance computing. What we build in the UAE, we will replicate exactly in the United States, ensuring consistent performance and reliability in every location.”

The chips will be subject to the Regulated Technology Environment (RTE) framework developed by G42 and approved by the U.S. Department of Commerce, making the UAE the only country in the region to implement this level of compliance with U.S. export controls.

For his part, Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the UAE’s Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council (AIATC), affirmed that the aforementioned decision “underscores the depth of the strategic partnership between our two countries. For technology is not limited to a mere tool for progress, but a platform for economic stability, regional security, and long-term cooperation. Hence, we are proud that the UAE has become Washington’s most trusted partner in this field.”

In addition, the decision strengthens G42’s partnerships with Microsoft, AMD, Qualcomm, Cerebras, and others. It comes after the company began operating three of the world’s top 500 supercomputers and recently launched its “Maximus-01” supercomputer in New York, which ranked 20th on a global scale.

This approval comes at a time when G42 already owns three of the world’s top 500 supercomputers, holding the second and third positions regionally. It also launched its “Maximus-01” supercomputer in New York, which jumped to 20th place globally immediately upon becoming operational. At this juncture, the company’s footprint extends to sites in Abu Dhabi, France, and several US states, including California, Minnesota, Texas, and New York.

With this license, the UAE officially becomes the most secure and high-performing AI hub outside the United States, marking a new phase in the global race toward secure supercomputing.

Furthermore, G42 is a leading global technology group of companies that creates and develops artificial intelligence technologies in an effort to shape a better future. It was established in Abu Dhabi and operates worldwide, in addition, it promotes artificial intelligence as a pivotal force for achieving public benefit across various sectors.
