Reports indicate that Prime Minister KamilIdris has resigned 

Sources close to the Port Sudan Authorities revealed that the Prime Minister of the Port Sudan Authority submitted his resignation after months of being appointed as a figurehead for the Islamic Movement’s rule in Port Sudan. 

The sources stated that Idris left Port Sudan two weeks ago for Switzerland, portraying yet another failure for the Port Sudan Authority, as the latter remains under the control of leaders of the Islamic Movement. 

Furthermore, they added that Idris was pressured by the Islamic Movement and its leaders to leave. They described Idris as a mere figurehead in the Port Sudan Authority -a civilian one- who came from Switzerland and had connections with international organizations in an effort to lend an air of legitimacy to the Islamist regime. The sources  further shared, “Nevertheless, Idris failed in playing his role and thus, became a liability for the Port Sudan Authority.”
