ICC convicts Kushayb and demands the extradition of Al Bashir, Haroun, and Abdel Rahim Hussein

 The International Criminal Court (ICC) convicted Ali Mohammed Ali Abdel-Rahman, known as “Ali Kushayb,” on Monday on (27) counts of crimes against humanity and war crimes, including rape, murder, and persecution.

Furthermore, the (ICC) demanded that the de facto authorities in Port Sudan hand over ousted President Omar Al-Bashir along with the Interior and Defense Ministers of Al-Bashir’s overthrown government, Ahmed Haroun and Abdel Rahim Mohammad Hussein. As they are wanted on the same charges for crimes committed more than (20 years) ago in Darfur.

For his part, Kushayb voluntarily surrendered to the Court in (2020), after being charged with war crimes and genocide in Darfur.

The International Criminal Court is scheduled to determine Kushayb’s sentence on a later date, during a new round of hearings.
