Sudanese Leader: The ongoing war is the Brotherhood’s Gateway to return to power

Hasab Al-Nabi Mahmoud, head of Sudan Democratic Liberation Movement and a member of the Leadership Council of the Sudan Founding Alliance (Tasis), confirmed that global extremist groups currently allied with Al-Burhan’s Army are aiming to return to power, noting that they have found their calling in fighting alongside him.
Mahmoud told (Erem News) that these factions are linked to regional networks, citing ties with the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in addition to collaborating with groups like (Boko Haram), whilst some political leaders and Islamist Movements represent the incubator and cover for these militias.
Political Acts of Retaliation
The member of the Leadership Council explained that the strategic goal of these forces is to return to power using numerous means, including illegal ones, adding that the conflict is currently being used as a tool for political revenge and forcing the displacement of innocent civilians. He warned that the groups influencing the decision to prolong the war include prominent figures.
Mahmoud revealed that all extremist Islamist groups are fighting alongside the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), noting that Al-Qaeda has had a long-standing presence in Sudan since the (1990s), most notably, Osama bin Laden was residing in Sudan for a period and had affiliates leading the operations within the Islamic Movement and the National Congress Party (NCP).
Moreover, Hasab Al-Nabi pointed out that the emir of Da’esh in Sudan, Mohammed Ali Al-Jazouli, is a well-known Islamist leader who also supports the Sudanese Army and was the first to announce his support for the Army following the (April 15th) developments. Additionally, when he was arrested by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), he admitted to being the emir of the organization in Sudan, along with Al-Baraa Ibn Malik faction led by Ali Karti and other extremist armed factions.
Links to the Iranian (IRGC)
The Sudanese official indicated that all of these factions have direct links to the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard, even in the way they wear the same green and yellow headbands. Furthermore, Boko Haram has a foothold in Sudan and is fighting alongside forces led by Jibril Ibrahim, the Minister of Finance and leader of the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM).
He explained that the faction led by Jibril has fully aligned itself with the Islamic Movement and the Muslim Brotherhood regime in Sudan and is currently fighting alongside Al-Burhan’s forces.
“The extremist organizations moved between several capitals, until they finally attained what they’ve been looking for within the borders of the Sudanese State,” according to Mahmoud who further noted that “The Islamic Movement and the Muslim Brotherhood are considered a safety valve for them, as they are the historical, strategic, and military incubator for these organizations.”
The Forced Displacement of Civilians
The member of the Leadership Council of the Sudan Founding Alliance pointed out that Islamist groups, especially the Muslim Brotherhood, most prominently the Islamic Movement, which represents the vital political faction in Sudan, ignited this war with the intention of returning to power. They exhausted all means, both legitimate and illegitimate, to forcefully displace civilians and punish them to the maximum extent possible.
Furthermore, Hasab Al-Nabi explained that “revenge” against the Sudanese people in general falls within the framework of the Muslim Brotherhood’s position following the (December 2018 revolution), based on their belief that the people conspired against them and hence, ought to pay the price. They openly stated the aforementioned, “Either us or chaos and destruction.” And most certainly, at this juncture, the Sudanese people have paid a very heavy price.
He stated, “For the Brotherhood, this war is a strategic war and a last resort to return to power. They now control the political decision to stop the war, just as they previously held the power to start it. In addition to their political presence, they currently hold a significant and effective military position, as they continue to put forth efforts according to the Port Sudan agenda.”
Mahmoud concluded his remarks by emphasizing that they “will not hesitate to commit any acts in order to return to power, including the political elimination of their opponents. Currently, the only faction that influences Al-Burhan and decides on his behalf in regards to the continuation of the war is the faction of Ali Karti and Osama Abdullah.”
