Members of SAF continue to wreak havoc in Omdurman

Recently, in Omdurman, a city under the control of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), dozens of civilians have been subjected to looting, killings, and extortion at gunpoint.

Activists on social media reported that the Sudanese Army personnel attacked civilians and looted their property. They shared that anyone who refuses to comply would be killed or blackmailed with accusations of collaborating with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

Teacher Emad el-Din Mustafa, one of the numerous victims, from the Eighth Thawraneighborhood, reported that at 5:20 a.m., he heard his sister screaming for help and was surprised to find a thief inside the house. However, when he chased the offender to the house gate, he was confronted by two men armed with Kalashnikov rifles and wearing the Sudanese Army’s uniform.

According to Emad’s statements, as reported by (Darfur 24), “They threatened me whilst holding the rifle to my head and loading it, and when I argued with them, they fired shots in the air and fled.”

The gunmen managed to steal (25) cell phones from several homes at gunpoint, and citizens -naturally- were quick to file police reports.

Over the past few weeks, three people have been killed in armed robberies, and Omdurman continues to feel the pressure created by the lack of security in numerous neighborhoods. In addition, a gold trader was kidnapped and robbed at gunpoint as well.
