Islamic Movement: Egypt is a historical enemy and KSA is USA’s tool in the region

The Sudanese Islamic Movement issued a strongly worded statement rejecting the Joint Statement of the International Quad (the United States, the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Egypt) regarding the restoration of peace and security in Sudan. The statement considered the initiative an attempt to impose foreign tutelage over the country, to weaken the Islamists, and undermine their influence within State institutions.

In a notable escalation, the Movement described Egypt as the “historical enemy of Islamists,” accusing the State of seeking to exclude independent national forces and control Sudanese political decisions through diplomatic and economic tools. The statement went on to criticize Saudi Arabia for what it considered “abandoning its role in supporting the nation” and transforming itself into a tool for implementing US projects in the region.

Comprehensive Rejection

The statement affirmed the Islamic Movement’s rejection of any truce or ceasefire imposed from abroad, considering such initiatives an attempt to legitimize the influence of secular and opportunistic forces, as well as expand the control of “domestic agents” over State institutions. Furthermore, the Movement accused the (UAE) and the (US) of leading a “conspiracy to divide Sudan and sow division” through political and military support for hostile forces.

External Conspiracy

The Sudanese Islamic Movement emphasized that it is “the sole guarantee for the protection of religion and the homeland,” affirming that it leads the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Sudanese people in confronting what it described as “external conspiracies,” reiterating that it will remain the sole defender of national Sovereignty, no matter how intense the pressure.

The Islamic Movement’s statement reflected an escalation on the Islamic Movement’s part in regards to its attitude towards international efforts aimed at ending the war in Sudan, as the aforementioned statement serves as confirmation of the Sudanese Islamic Movement’s commitment to rejecting any settlement that does not guarantee its continued influence within State institutions.
