Daglo takes the oath as Chairman of Sudan’s Presidential Council

On Saturday, Lt. Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo was sworn in as Chairman of Sudan’s Presidential Council before Chief Justice Ramadan Ibrahim Shemila in the capital, Nyala, South Darfur state.

The Presidential Council comprises (15 members), including regional governors, as part of the Sudan Founding Alliance’s vision to establish a decentralized system.

Furthermore, the inauguration of the Chairman of the Presidential Council of the Peace and Unity Government comes in accordance with the 2025 Transitional Constitution of the Republic of Sudan, which stipulates the repeal of the 2019 Transitional Constitutional Document and all previous laws, decisions, and decrees.

The Constitution outlines several key tasks for the Transitional Peace Government, including halting and ending wars, establishing just and sustainable peace, in addition to establishing the Sudanese State on new basis.
