RSF announces the complete elimination of the Islamic Movements’ Elite Brigade

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced the implementation of a “heroic operation” that resulted in the complete elimination of the so-called “Elite Brigade,” an armed formation affiliated with the Islamic Movement, and includes members of Al-Baraa Ibn Malik Brigades, Al-Barq Al-Khatif, as well as other extremist organizations.

An official statement issued by the Rapid Support Forces explained that the operation, which took place on Wednesday, resulted in the deaths of hundreds of members of the brigade, including prominent leaders considered to be amongst the most dangerous cadres of the ISIL (Da’esh) battalions in the country.

Furthermore, the Rapid Support Forces emphasized that this achievement represents a decisive blow to what it described as the “destructive project” pursued by the Islamic Movement within the military establishment.

The statement accused the Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan of involvement in sponsoring these formations, noting that he is the “de facto leader of the Islamic Movement” within the Sudanese Army, contrary to his repeated statements about combating the Islamists.

In conclusion, the Rapid Support Forces affirmed their continued efforts in what they described as “the decisive battle to cleanse the country of the remnants of terrorism and extremism,” noting that a number of armed groups are resorting to recruiting children and throwing them -callously- into the heat of the battles, in clear violation of International Humanitarian Law.

The RSF statement went on to reiterate that “the dawn of the new State is imminent,” noting that Sudan is steadily moving towards the establishment of a State based on the foundations of freedom, justice, and equality, where there is no place for tyranny and terrorism.
