In his first statement following his appointment as Chairman of the Presidential Council, Daglo: I did not seek power

In his first statement since assuming the chairmanship of the Presidential Council, Lt. Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo announced that his acceptance of the position came in response to the wishes of the Founding Alliance leadership and out of his moral commitment to the homeland and its citizens.

Sources close to Daglo quoted him as saying that his assumption of this responsibility comes as a tribute to the martyrs, to protect the rights of their families, and to restore the dignity of the wounded and the oppressed. He emphasized that power was never his ultimate goal, however, the duty of the patriotic cause compelled him to assume this responsibility.

Furthermore, Daglo indicated that the next phase will witness intensive efforts to rebuild Sudan, affirming his commitment to proceeding on this path “with a determination befitting the sacrifices of the martyrs who gave their lives for the nation.”
