Citizen killed upon his return from prayer in Omdurman

In a horrific crime that reflects the escalating wave of violent crimes in Khartoum State, a citizen was killed on Friday evening upon his return from Isha prayer. Three armed men riding a motorcycle intercepted him in the Sabreen Market area of Karrari Locality, attempting to steal his mobile phone. However, when he resisted, they opened fire, killing him instantly before fleeing.
This crime takes place amidst the -unfortunate- state of security instability in Khartoum after the Sudanese Army assumed control of the area, coupled with the normalization of weapons and an increase in armed crime in consequence.
Last month, the state’s Security Affairs Coordination Committee announced the commitment to a decision to evacuate the capital of any armed presence other than the Police and Regular Forces, in an effort to contain the chaos and enhance the security situation in civilian areas.
