Sudan Founding Alliance announces formation of Transitional Peace Government

 

On Saturday, the Sudan Founding Alliance (Tasis) announced the formation of a Presidential Council for a Transitional Government headed by the Commander of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Lt. Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo.

During a meeting in Nyala, the capital of South Darfur state, the Alliance decided to appoint Mohamed Hassan El-Ta’aishi as Prime Minister of the Transitional Peace Government.

For his part, the official spokesperson for the Sudan Founding Alliance, Dr. Alaa El-Din Awad Nugud, stated that the Alliance’s Leadership Council held its second session on Thursday, July 24th, to discuss several important points, including the formation of the Presidential Council and the selection of the Prime Minister of the Transitional Peace Government.

“After deliberations and discussions characterized by moderation and objectivity, the Leadership Council reached the decision to establish the Presidential Council for the Transitional Peace Government, consisting of (15 members), including the governors of the regions,” according to Nugud. 

He announced that the Presidential Council, chaired by the Commander of the Rapid Support Forces, Lt. Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, with Commander Abdel Aziz Adam Al-Hilu as Vice-President of the Council; includes Al-Tahir Abu Bakr Hajar, Professor Mohamed Youssef Mustafa, Kholoud Fathi Salem, Abdullah Ibrahim Abbas, and Hamid Hamdeen Al-Nuwairi, as members.

The spokesperson for (Tasis) shared that the governors of the eight regions are: Dr. Al-Hadi Idris Yahya, Governor of Darfur Region; Jagod Makwar Marada, Governor of South Kordofan/Nuba Mountains Region; Joseph Tuka Ali, Governor of Blue Nile/New Funj Region; Mabrouk Mubarak Salim, Governor of Eastern Sudan Region; Saleh Issa Abdullah El-Bishi, Governor of the Central Region; Professor Abu Al-Qasim Al-Rashid Ahmed, Governor of the Northern Region; Faris Al-Nour Ibrahim, Governor of the Khartoum Region; and Hamad Mohamed Hamid, Governor of the Kordofan Region.

An Inclusive Homeland

The spokesperson for the Sudan Founding Alliance announced that Daglo will chair the Presidential Council of the Transitional Peace Government, while Mohamed Hassan El-Ta’aishi has been appointed as Prime Minister of the peace government.

He continued, “The Leadership Council of the Sudan Founding Alliance continues to discuss the remaining issues on the agenda of the second session.”

He confirmed that the Leadership Council “renews Tasis’s commitment to building an inclusive homeland, and a new secular, democratic, decentralized, and voluntarily unified Sudan, founded on the principles of freedom, justice and equality.”
