Sumoud… An idea that cannot be suppressed with a passport!

When the military and Islamist authorities, who ignited the war, are unable to confront the truth, they aim to pursue its defenders at home through the prosecution offices and abroad through embassies, not as criminals, but as exiles stripped of any rights to a formal identity.

We can see them -rather clearly- today, at the bottom of an endless depression, having descended —as befits them— to utilizing the tools of petty repression: the weaponization of official documents, the prevention of the issuance or renewal of passports, and the suspension of IDs, all the aforementioned against those who defeated the military and Islamist authorities’ bullets with ideas and words.

The arbitrary ban on official procedures at Sudanese embassies to which members of the Civil Democratic Alliance of Revolutionary Forces (Sumoud), are subjected is nothing but a despicable form of political retaliation. This has already, and continues to, befall anyone whose appearance, accent, or name suggests that they originate from Darfur or Kordofan. Following the heavy defeats the Islamists suffered in their war, they have been rendered to the levels they ought to occupy: alongside the hypocrites of history, whose malice and terror make them believe that every outcry is against them.

Such arbitrary measures are no more than an irrefutable declaration that this Army is no longer the Army of Sudan, but the Army of the Islamists (Al-Kizan), who have accepted the destruction of the country, burning it, killing its people, starving them, and displacing them in order to return to power: they remain hovering over our heads, yet they are the aggressors against our country!

Furthermore, its a confirmation that the State they seek to establish is nothing more than a State of plunder and spoils, that their ambassadors abroad are not representatives of the people, and that their consuls in their embassies are nothing but filthy guard dogs, lacking even the senses of a canine. The Sudanese people they have come to “serve” are those plunderers steeped in corruption, those dull creatures devoid of patriotism and dignity. As they see their war to return to power as “restoring the nation’s dignity,” and the Islamist Army as an Army for Sudan!

However, what the military and Islamist authorities in Port Sudan fail to realize is that (Sumoud) has never been a stamp on a piece of paper, nor a file kept in an ambassador’s small drawer.

Sumoud is a deeply rooted idea that resides in the hearts of millions who dream of a democratic, Sovereign, free, and humane homeland.

It is, therefore, not a movement to be suppressed, nor an entity to be persecuted, but rather an idea that never dies… an idea that expands, whenever they seek to stifle it, more cohesively, more deeply united, and more powerfully present.

Furthermore, a passport, in essence, doesn’t grant an individual a sense or right of belonging, nor does it create citizenship; it merely facilitates passage.

True citizenship, however, is not formulated on a piece of paper stamped with the logo of a corrupt State. Rather, its that deep belonging that exposes the falsity of a passport when its granted by an illegitimate authority, such as the authority of Al-Kizan of Port Sudan.
