In an interview, Al-Faki: Halting the formation of the Port Sudan Authority will save Sudan

Mohamed Al-Faki Suleiman, a former member of the Sovereignty Council and a leader in the Civil Democratic Alliance of Revolutionary Forces (Sumoud), stated that one of the conditions required in order to save Sudan today is halting the process of forming an authority in Port Sudan and engaging -instead- in a comprehensive political process.
He pointed out that the Muslim Brotherhood’s insistence on returning to power has only served to push the country from a coup to war, which has -consequently- destroyed the economy and torn apart the social fabric.
Furthermore, Al-Faki asserted that the Islamic Movement planned the October 25th Coup, for they exploited the military’s ambitions for power and the complexities of the security system inherited from the era of dictatorship, ignoring the Sudanese people’s desire for civilian rule.
In an interview with (Erem News), Suleiman added that the war coalition is vying for power and resources under false slogans, emphasizing that the current timing is the most appropriate for initiating a comprehensive political process that will stop the war and unite Sudan.
The leader in (Sumoud) stressed the necessity of ensuring that the Sudanese people are granted an opportunity to participate, in addition, a ceasefire ought to be implemented first.
In conclusion, Al-Faki Suleiman warned that Kamil Idris’s authority is merely a facade.
When the Brotherhood launched their war, they were under the impression that it will last only a few hours, their goal was to eliminate the revolutionary forces and subdue every armed group, in an effort to return to power. However, this particular plot failed for a number of reasons.
Whilst calling for a halt to the formation of the government in Port Sudan, how do you perceive the developments in Sudan?
The Islamic Movement in Sudan (the Brotherhood) orchestrated the October 25th Coup in its entirety, capitalizing on the generals’ ambitions for power and their historical experience in this field.
The Islamic Movement and the leaders of the Security Services -intransigently- overlooked the blatant facts on the ground; i.ethe Sudanese people’s desire for civilian rule and the dismantling of the Brotherhood regime. The complex reality of the security apparatus is the result of long years of Brotherhood dictatorship.
Such complex reality required prolonged political efforts and gradual reconciliation. However, the aforementioned clashed with the Muslim Brotherhood’s desire to return to power, therefore, they -deliberately- ignored all the facts and led the country from coup to war.
The “war coalition” faces a major crisis in forming ministries after the truth became clear; its a war motivated by power and finances, and has naught to do with the dignity of the Sudanese people.
Following two years of continuous fighting, the country’s economic structure has been shattered and its society has long been torn apart. Currently, an authority in Port Sudan is governing several states, and an alliance is putting forth diligent efforts into establishing a government in Nyala. All the above prompts us to rethink the very approach that led to this point.
The political map of the “war coalition” is governed by the conditions of the fighters who have divided power according to the length of their rifles.
Why did you decide to call for the launch of a political process at this time?
When the Brotherhood launched their war, they were under the impression that it will last only a few hours, their goal was to eliminate the revolutionary forces and subdue every armed group, in an effort to return to power. However, this particular plot failed for a number of reasons. Subsequently, the war spread to the majority of the Sudanese states, affecting the lives of millions of people through death, displacement, asylum, and the loss of their property.
All the initiatives aiming to curb this utter madness were met with failure; because greed blinded those who launched the war cry -to what they call the ‘War of Dignity’- believing that the path to power is paved, however, the war coalition itself is now facing a major crisis in regards to forming ministries after the truth has been exposed; its a war motivated by power and finances, and has naught to do with the dignity of the Sudanese people.
From our position of responsibility, we believe that this is the most appropriate time to stop this competition before the situation erupts again, and then move towards launching a comprehensive political process that stops the war, reunifies the country on an agenda of peace, development, and rebuilding national institutions.
The Armed Movements are speaking directly to Al-Burhan, and there is no civilian government.
What are the conditions that ought to be met in the political process?
Sudan belongs to all Sudanese, and all of them have the right to participate in shaping its future. However, the step required to achieve such results begins with a ceasefire and the opening of humanitarian corridors, followed by a comprehensive political process that includes all except the National Congress Party (NCP). The latter is the condition set by the Sudanese revolution, and the Muslim Brotherhood has attempted to nullify it by igniting the war.
The “war coalition” is vying for power and resources under false slogans
What is the probable position of Sudanese Army Commander-in-Chief, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan?
Al-Burhan appointed Kamil Idris in an effort to convey the following to the international and regional community, “As you can see, I have successfully formed a civilian government with full powers.” Nevertheless, from that beginning, Kamil Idris discovered that he was bound by the reality of war. The political map was governed by the conditions of the fighters who divided power according to the length of their rifles.
Greed blinded those who launched the war cry -to what they call the ‘War of Dignity’- believing that the path to power is paved.
Therefore, today we see a scramble for revenue ministries, such as the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Minerals, which control gold processes, with each party pulling in a different direction. It has become clear to everyone that the center of government is Al-Burhan, because he created this reality, not Kamil Idris.
The Armed Movements are speaking directly to Al-Burhan, which suggests that there is no civilian government, hence, there is no reason to destabilize the situation without reaping any political gain. The best course of action would be to halt all these measures and engage in a comprehensive political process.
The Muslim Brotherhood ignored all the facts and led the country from a coup to war out of a lust for power.
