In a Provocative Statement, Al Jakumi: The North is the origin of power and doesn’t need to obtain it (Video)

Mohamed Seid Ahmed, head of the Northern Track in the Juba Peace Agreement for Sudan (JPA), known as “Al-Jakumi,” sparked intense controversy in political and media circles when he stated that Northern Sudan inherited power since Sudan’s independence in (1956), and is the origin of power, hence, it doesn’t necessarily need to obtain it.

In an interview with (Al-Jazeera), Al-Jakumi stated, “We, in the North, inherited power since (1956)….We have been the authority and its makers since Sudan’s independence. Power is confined to us, and we don’t need to obtain it.”

Al-Jakumi’s controversial statements coincide with a state of tension plaguing the Sudanese Army and its allied Movements in regards to the issue of dividing power according to the Juba Peace Agreement for Sudan, ahead of the announcement of Port Sudan Authority’s new cabinet formation, which faces significant complications from its various parties.

Additionally, limited groups in Sudan are incessantly rejecting any notion of fair distribution of power and wealth, which would -ideally- achieve justice, equality, and stability, end the ongoing wars, and achieve equitable political representation in the country.
