Looting and Armed Crimes: Chaos in Al-Jazeera

Resistance Committees and citizens in the city of Abu Guta, Al-Jazeera state, reported a state of chaos, lawlessness, looting, and armed crime, despite the presence of regular Police and Army forces in the area.
The Committees shared that a state of panic and fear prevailed in the area following the failure of Regular Forces to secure the small town and fulfill their duty towards citizens and their property.
Citizens in the area indicated that some members of the so-called “Popular Resistance,” mobilized fighters, and Regular Forces were involved in armed robberies in various parts of Al-Jazeera state.
The Resistance Committees of Abu Guta shared in a statement issued on Friday that several crimes had been reported in the city recently, with shops being looted and robbed at gunpoint. They noted that a boutique was looted yesterday, Friday, inside the market, immediately after Maghrib prayer. Furthermore, five days ago, a citizen was robbed at gunpoint in his home, and two days prior, a television set was stolen at gunpoint from a citizen home.
Unfortunately, despite the presence of Police and other Regular Forces in the city, they have failed to fulfill their duty towards citizens and their property, according to the statement. This has led to a state of fear and anxiety amongst citizens, who are demanding a urgent efforts to improve the security conditions in the city.
Citizens in Abu Guta demanded swift and effective action by the relevant authorities in an effort to improve security, hold those responsible for this failure accountable, and provide effective solutions to stop these crimes.
According to the Resistance Committees’ statement, the impact of these crimes on citizens is significant, as they feel fear and anxiety for their lives and property, while psychological and social stability are affected and confidence in security institutions is deteriorating.
