The SCoP condemns SAF’s targeting of Al-Koma Market in North Darfur

The Sudanese Congress Party (SCoP) condemned the attack carried out by the Sudanese Armed Forces’ drones on Al-Koma Market in North Darfur state, which resulted in dozens of civilian deaths and hundreds of civilian injuries. The Party described the incident as a “heinous crime” and demanded that the perpetrators be held accountable.

 

The Party went on to classify the bombing of Al-Koma Market as a “war crime” that requires accountability and the perpetrators ought to be brought to justice.

 

The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) bombed Al-Koma on Sunday, killing and wounding (89 people), according to a preliminary report by Al-Koma Emergency Room.

 

The Sudanese Congress Party shared in a press release on Monday that the Armed Forces’ drones targeted Al-Koma Market in North Darfur state on Sunday.

 

“Its a market frequented by civilians from numerous areas across the state, hence, the attack resulted in the deaths of dozens of innocent people, including women, children, and the elderly, in addition, hundreds were wounded and injured, amidst a severe shortage of medical supplies and facilities.”

 

The (SCoP) strongly condemned this “heinous” crime, describing it as one of the crimes of the ominous April 15th war, requiring accountability and bringing its perpetrators to justice.

 

The statement held the Sudanese Army fully responsible for the attack and its consequences, renewing calls for the Sudanese Army and its allied militias to cease targeting civilians and refrain from striking civilian facilities.

 

The Sudanese Congress Party reiterated that the sole path to staunching the bloodshed in Sudan, in an effort to spare the country the dangers of fragmentation and division; is to immediately engage in seeking to achieve negotiated, peaceful solutions.
