SLFA condemns SAF’s use of Chemical Weapons against civilians

The Sudan Liberation Forces Alliance (SLFA) condemned the Sudanese Army’s use of chemical weapons in civilian populated areas, stressing that the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and its terrorist militias have continued to use chemical weapons in several regions across the country.
In a statement, the Alliance expressed that its noting with utmost concern and condemnation the credible reports of Islamist militias, including the Armed Forces along with other affiliated terrorist brigades, resorting to the use of internationally prohibited chemical weapons against civilians and Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in several regions across Sudan.
The Sudan Liberation Forces Alliance affirmed that such criminal behavior represents a flagrant violation of International Humanitarian Law and falls within the category of war crimes and crimes against humanity, which aren’t subject to any statute of limitations.
The statement added, “We, in the Sudan Liberation Forces Alliance, consider this crime a direct extension of the approach of the Port Sudan coup regime, which is run by the remnants of political Islam and their extremist brigades, who continue to practice organized violence and ethnic cleansing as tools to subjugate the Sudanese people.”
The statement noted that this criminal behavior is reminiscent of the Islamists’ bloody record throughout their defunct rule, when they committed the most horrific violations against the Sudanese people, including the use of internationally prohibited weapons in their wars against the Sudanese citizens in Darfur, the Nuba Mountains, and the Blue Nile.
The statement issued by (SLFA) held Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Army, fully criminally responsible for issuing orders to carry out these crimes, along with all military and political leaders who colluded with, facilitated, or supported this cowardly act.
The Sudan Liberation Forces Alliance welcomed the sanctions and measures announced by the United States against the Sudanese Army and its extremist militias, and considered the imposed sanctions to be an important step towards curbing the frequency of war crimes and crimes against humanity carried out by Al-Burhan and his cohorts using chemical weapons.
The statement went in to reiterate the importance of imposing such measures, noting that they ought to be expanded to include all leaders of the so-called “Port Sudan government” personally involved in these crimes against civilians. The Alliance emphasized the need to prosecute all individuals responsible for these crimes, especially Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, and bring them to international justice.
“It is time for the international community to join forces in order to support the Sudanese people in their battle against the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood Army, and their efforts to build a new Sudan based on the values of freedom, peace, and justice,” according to the (SLFA) statement.
