Basira Umm Hamad’s solutions to the drones targeting Port Sudan

Khaled Omar Youssef

Basira Umm Hamad saw the fire consuming our country from its far east to its far west, and she stated: This is an external aggression. Let us seek the help of another external force. “Let us show them who the enemy is and then proceed to sit back and watch!” That is, let us address the issue of the supposed external aggression by turning the entire country into an arena for an external conflict in which the Sudanese have no power or influence.

It is rather worth noting that Basira Umm Hamad had previously promoted a narrative that the political solution brought about by the Framework Agreement was an abomination of the devil. How can we accept that the issue of the multiplicity of armies would be resolved peacefully over the course of years? The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) could be eliminated in a matter of hours, and no harm, no foul..!! After a while, she came up with a new narrative, “it will be done in a week or two,” and the hour of resolving this matter militarily and decisively has drawn near. A week, a month, and a year passed. They said it was an existential war that would end with the hanging of the last affiliate of the Forces of Freedom and Change (FFC), using the intestines of the last Janjaweed member. They promised people victory, telling them they should pack their bags for the return trip, for the war had ended with “military decisiveness.” After which, our country witnessed nothing but blood and destruction in Tura, Al-Gamo’iya, Al-Saliha, Zamzam, En-Nahud, Nyala, and finally Port Sudan.

All the aforementioned lies resulted in -absolutely- nothing, however, the insightful Umm Hamad never falls short in her ability to produce new tricks. She now preaches that this war will continue, therefore, don’t dare to dream of a happy world. We will call on other countries to fight other States within the Sudanese territory. As for the Sudanese people and their capabilities, they are collateral damage, worthless in the quest for their “dignity”! The insightful Umm Hamad lies, lies, and then lies again, without the slightest bit of shame. After all, lying is free and abundant, in reality!!

As this war continues, people are dying on a daily basis. They are displaced into exile, their humanity is being wasted and their lives are being destroyed. Hatred and racism are growing, making it impossible for our country to unite its people under one sky. People have lost their homes, their possessions, and their memories, leaving nothing behind. Destruction has befallen the country’s airports, ports, power plants, oil refineries, bridges, roads, and agricultural projects. Its gold has been stolen, becoming the spoils of anyone passing by. Does anyone believe that attaining something -in particular- deserves this level of destruction?!! May Allah spare us this madness so that reason, in its simplest form, may return to a country that doesn’t deserve the destruction and devastation it is facing.

Some believe that striving for peace is a surrender to reality. However, peace, is not -necessarily- a return to the past or coexistence with the present. If goodness existed within them, we wouldn’t be experiencing this madness. Peace is searching for a future. A future in which Sudan’s unity and Sovereignty are protected by a just social contract for all. A future in which a single, unified, national, and professional Army is the State institution that prevents weapons from falling into the hands of other partisan or regional groups. A future in which we devote ourselves to building and developing our country, drawing on its vast resources, the minds and arms of its sons and daughters. A future in which people choose their leaders voluntarily, not by force, and hold them accountable as well as implement change without violence. This future will not be attained through the barrels of guns, but through dialogue, in addition to free and civilized deliberation.

Our position against the war is the sound moral position from which we have never and will never waver. We held this position before the war began, when it was confined to certain areas of the capital, when the Rapid Support Forces advanced, when the Sudanese Army regained the initiative, and ever since. Its a position that has nothing to do with the identity of the victor, but rather stems from a firm conviction that there is no victor in this war, no matter how long it lasts, and that there is no military solution to our country’s complex issues, that the party suffering loss is our afflicted people, for whom we call for peace for no reason other than to preserve their dignity, stop the incessant shedding of their blood, protect their wealth and honor, and safeguard their capabilities. The voices of war wish to silence the advocates of peace with lies, slander, and deception. We won’t be silent, moreover, we will continue to disturb their sleep by speaking the truth and nothing but the truth, for war is a complete crime that we disavow completely and refuse to engage in. Peace is our desire, our dream, our goal, and the sum of our work, and we will not back down from striving for it, no matter how far calamities are exacerbated.
