The Return of Repression
Port Sudan prevents media from covering the damage caused to SAF by drones

Informed sources revealed that a closed meeting was held at a hotel in the Transit neighborhood of Port Sudan, attended by the Minister of Information in the de facto authority in Port Sudan, Khaled Al-Aiser, along with a number of journalists and correspondents from local channels. During the meeting, a new media plan was developed to address the escalation of drone strikes on the city.
The source reported that the meeting concluded with strict instructions not to publish information regarding military losses or sites affected by the attacks, and to focus instead on the humanitarian aspects of the crisis, in addition to highlighting the (UAE) as the aggressor in the official media discourse.
According to the source, incentives were also promised to some journalists for their role in what the minister described as the “War of Dignity,” referring to the media campaign accompanying the military operations taking place in eastern Sudan.
This development comes amidst an unprecedented escalation in military operations in Port Sudan, which has transformed -recently- from a safe haven into a target for airstrikes, further complicating the security and political situation in the country.
