Security Forces disperse a political symposium of the SCP in Atbara and expel Party leaders

On Wednesday evening, a force from the de facto government’s Security Forces stormed the headquarters of the Sudanese Communist Party (SCP) in Atbara, halting a political symposium that was being held inside the headquarters. They ordered the attendees and Party leaders to evacuate the premises.

In a press release, the Communist Party described the incident as “blatant aggression,” adding that the Security Forces prevented the Party leadership from holding their scheduled meeting at the headquarters and ordered the closure of the premises, allegedly in implementation of a decision issued by the State Security Committee.

The Party stated that this behavior constitutes an infringement on freedom of expression, opinion, and activism, a restriction of space for political forces, and a violation of the rights that allow for the conduct of activities within the headquarters without the permission or approval of the security authorities. The (SCP) added in their statement, “We will work to regain our full rights by all legal and legitimate means and methods.”
