Welcoming Statement

The Sudan Founding Alliance (Tasees) welcomes the signing of the Sudan Founding Charter by the Revolutionary Awakening Council (RAC) factions. This step is an important addition towards establishing and building the New Sudan project based on justice and equal citizenship.

The Sudan Founding Alliance, based on a shared destiny and the great sacrifices made by the martyrs of the Sudanese revolution throughout history, reiterates its commitment, through revolutionary struggle, to restore all inherent rights to the Sudanese people and realize their hopes for building a secular, democratic State, fulfilling their aspirations for a dignified, stable, and secure life, and eliminating all forms of discrimination and marginalization.

The project of establishing a new Sudan will not endure and develop unless the culture of exclusion and counter-exclusion is eliminated, along with the destructive duality that has characterized Sudanese politics throughout history, represented in —”we,” the historically privileged, and “them,” the Sudanese marginalized who suffer injustice and marginalization— As the implications of the aforementioned requires building and preserving the culture of “all of us,” which embraces all Sudanese men and women, with our religious, ethnic, and racial diversity, alongside a State of justice, equality, and the rule of law that embraces all.

While the Sudan Founding Alliance welcomes the joining of the Revolutionary Awakening Council factions, it highlights that these factions have recognized -from an early stage- the nature of the conflict in Sudan, and have taken up arms against the Central government and its ideologically racist institutions. Hence, they have now chosen to be part of the Alliance’s journey to build a nation that embraces all.
