Al Atta’s statements invoke international outrage and Juba cautions

Yasser Al-Atta’s statements regarding the States of Chad, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and South Sudan have sparked outrage, while observers believe that the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) had lost the friends of Sudan as well as its neighbors with the irresponsible statements uttered by its leaders against friendly and neighboring countries of Sudan.

Chad issued a statement in which Al-Atta’s comments were considered (a declaration of war), confirming the State’s willingness to deal with any scenario.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the State of South Sudan expressed its concern regarding the statements of Yasser Al-Atta, and condemned Al-Atta’s threats with military aggression against the people as well as the Sovereignty of South Sudan.

Al-Atta’s statements were described as provocative and reckless by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, adding that it bears a flagrant violation of the principles of good neighborliness, peaceful coexistence and International Law.

South Sudan’s Foreign Ministry called on regional and international partners, including the African Union (AU) and the United Nations (UN), to take cognizant of such hostile declarations and communicate with the Republic of Sudan to prevent any escalation that might endanger regional peace and security.
