Media Statement
March 20th, 2025
On Thursday, 20th March 2025, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) successfully rescued dozens of civilians, mostly women and children, who had been held in dire conditions inside the prisons of armed mercenary movements in Al-Malha area of North Darfur State.
Following the defeat of the mercenary movements and the liberation of Al-Malha, our forces freed all detainees held in secret torture facilities, known as ghost houses, which the mercenary movements used to detain, brutalize, and intimidate their opponents. Survivors recounted harrowing details of torture, inhumane treatment and execution of dozens inside these detention centers. A lot of people were subjected to horrific acts that flagrantly violate the international humanitarian law.
Our forces reaffirm their firm commitment to protect civilians, defend their rights and ensure that no threat to their security and safety is tolerated. We call on international human rights organizations to launch an immediate investigation into the crimes committed by mercenary movements against the innocent civilians.
We reiterate our determination to continue the fight to liberate the remaining strongholds of the mercenary movements and the affiliates of the Sudanese Armed Forces and their allied Islamic Movement, to fully liberate the country from the grip of the racist Port Sudan gang.
Mercy and forgiveness be upon our righteous martyrs
