A cry behind bars.. SAF launches a wide campaign of arrests against doctors in Wad Medani

The Preliminary Committee of the Sudan Doctors Syndicate revealed the re-arrest of Dr. Adam Mohammed in the city of Wad Madani and the continued detention of Dr. Nafisa Abdel Rahman by the Security Forces in Wad Medani.
The Preliminary Committee shared in a press statement that Dr. Adam Mohammed Ibrahim, a surgical consultant, was re-arrested after his previous release on charges of cooperating with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), indicating that he was one of the doctors who chose to remain in the city to continue providing medical treatment to patients after the Rapid Support Forces seized control of the region.
The Committee added that Dr. Nafisa Abdel Rahman, a resident doctor, has been under arrest for more than a week, calling for her immediate release, despite the scarcity of information regarding the circumstances of her arrest. The Sudan Doctors Syndicate added that, similar to the citizens, the doctors didn’t leave the city during the clashes that took place between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Moreover, they adhered to their moral, professional and humanitarian responsibilities, as their oath of profession requires them to provide medical care to everyone without discrimination.
The Sudan Doctors Syndicate’s Preliminary Committee demanded authorities to stop targeting doctors and health facilities, to put an end to all violations that affect the provision of medical services to citizens suffering from the ravages of war and the collapse of the health sector. The Committee held the Security authorities in Wad Medani responsible for the safety of Dr. Adam Mohammed Ibrahim and Dr. Nafisa Abdel Rahman, demanding their immediate release.
