International Parliament advocates for the formation of a transitional government

in Sudan without military intervention

The International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace advocated for the establishment of a transitional government inclusive of Sudanese political and civil forces to restore the country’s democratic trajectory towards an elected government, while reaffirming the principle of civilian governance free from military interference in State affairs.

The International Parliament expressed grave concern over the deteriorating situation in Sudan, in reference to the continued practices of killing, displacement and ethnic cleansing, in addition to targeting humanitarian aid convoys and the use of internationally prohibited weapons.

The Parliament reiterated the importance of an immediate cessation of hostilities and the necessity of ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid, especially basic and medical supplies, to alleviate the deteriorating humanitarian conditions.

These calls came during the 12th plenary session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, which was held on (the 3rd and 4th of March) in Geneva, chaired by the Republic of Chad.

The 12th plenary session, convened for two days to deliberate on strategies for enhancing and coordinating international efforts to foster a global culture of tolerance and peace, with a focus on addressing global crises and conflicts.

In its concluding remarks, the Parliament reiterated its unwavering commitment to advancing tolerance and peace through diplomatic and parliamentary initiatives. It emphasized the significance of reinforcing global partnerships to foster security, stability, and equitable development among nations.
