SPLM-N: The Founding Alliance Charter reflects the vision of a New Sudan

The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), led by General Abdel Aziz Al-Hilu, stated that the Sudan Founding Alliance Charter reflects the vision of a new Sudan and clearly addresses the relationship between religion and the State.
Last Saturday, the Movement signed the Sudan Founding Alliance Charter with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and a number of parties, Armed Movements, community entities and Civil Administrations, aiming to form the Government of Peace and Unity in Sudan.
On behalf of the (SPLM-N), First Deputy Commander Joseph Tukka Ali, signed the Charter, while the Movement’s Chairman, Abdel Aziz Al-Hilu, addressed the opening session last week.
Following the signing, the Political and Leadership Council of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North held a meeting in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, on Saturday and Sunday to review the results of the Nairobi meetings in which a high-level delegation from the (SPLM-N) participated, as well as to review the Constitution and Founding Charter.

According to a press release issued by the Movement, the Political and Leadership Council received a briefing from the (SPLM-N) delegation on the establishment of the alliance and the two documents (the Founding Charter and Constitution of the Transitional Peace Government).
The Political and Leadership Council of the (SPLM-N) expressed appreciation for the efforts of the (SPLM-N) delegation that participated in the Nairobi meetings between the political and civil forces, the armed struggle forces that signed the Charter, and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The Political and Leadership Council of the (SPLM-N) emphasized the intent to proceed with the the Sudan Founding Alliance Charter, which reflected the vision of the new Sudan and addressed the issue of the relationship between religion and the State by explicitly stating the Secularism of the State and the right to self-determination if the Transitional Constitution and the Permanent Constitution failed to recognize or state the Secularism of the State or violated any of the supra-constitutional principles.
It is rather noteworthy that the meeting of the Political and Leadership Council of the (SPLM-N) was held in the presence of the head of the (SPLM-N), Commander Abdel Aziz Adam Al-Hilu, the (SPLM-N) First Deputy Commander Joseph Tukka Ali, the Vice Chairman of the (SPLM-N), Commander Jagod Makwar Marada, and Commander, Izzat Koko, the SPLM-N’s Chief of Staff, as well as Commander Ammar Amon Daldom, the Secretary-General of the (SPLM-N), along with the rest of the members of the (SPLM-N) Political and Leadership Council.
