Deterioration of the security situation in Kassala

An armed force attacked the Drug Control Office in the city of Kassala, seriously wounding two of the office staff, one of whom is a captain and the other is a soldier.

The attacking force burned the Drug Control Office along with the majority of the exhibits on the premises. In addition, the force released all the individuals detained in the station.

The state of Kassala is currently witnessing turbulent security conditions, in addition to ongoing arms and drug trade, as well as smuggling to Eritrea.

Citizens stated that the process of arming the mobilized fighters has plunged Kassala into the depths of a turbulent security situation, as the city is witnessing an unprecedented state of security chaos and armed robberies.
