Politicians: The awaited Peace Government is a glimmer of hope for Sudan

On Tuesday, Sudanese politicians and activists expressed their sincere aspirations that the signing of the Political Charter to form the Sudanese State would result in the birth of a legitimate representative of the Sudanese people who would -then- have an effective role in working to end the war and stem the bloodshed.

Yesterday, the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, hosted a Conference to form the new government in areas controlled by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). It was attended by political and civil figures, including the United Civil Forces (UCF), the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), the United Unionist Party, the National Umma Party (NUP), the Democratic Unionist Party, the Revolutionary Front (SRF), Armed Movements, in addition to other civil and community entities.

The head of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-Movement-North (SPLM-N), Abdel Aziz Adam Al-Hilu, stated that the goal of this event is to form a broad civil front to leverage for the purpose of achieving democratic transformation and lasting peace.

During his speech at the Preliminary Ceremony for Signing the Government of Peace and Unity, he called on the Sudanese people to support this new project to confront the Army’s authority in Port Sudan.

Al-Hilu pointed out that this event represents a fundamental step towards ending wars and hatred, in addition to seeking to conclude a new social contract that would represent the constitutional basis for governing the country.

For his part, Nasr al-Din Ahmed Idris, Secretary of the Administration and Organization Secretariat of the United Civil Forces (UCF), shared in a statement to (Erem News) that “The awaited Political Charter will pave the way for establishing a civilian government that functions on the foundations of achieving justice and equality, in addition to upholding remarkable values and principles that will save the country from the state of isolation and societal disintegration caused by the defunct regime.”

Idris added that “The expected government encompasses all components of the Sudanese people with their various components, regions, cultural and societal backgrounds,” expecting representatives from the diplomatic corps to attend the Signing Ceremony.

He stressed that “The signing of the Political Charter for the Peace Government will be achieved with the wide participation of representatives from various states of Sudan.”

The Signing Ceremony of the “Founding Political Charter” was expected to take place yesterday, Tuesday, in the Kenyan capital, in preparation for the formation of a civilian government, however, the signing was postponed to Friday.

For his part, the head of the Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF), Al-Hadi Idris, stated that the Political Charter emphasized the importance of ending the war, maintaining the unity of the country, and implementing the reasons for forming the government. He added that Sudan is a democratic State.

According to Dr. Al-Hadi Idris, the Charter will be available for all parties to sign, noting that the new government will assign Khartoum as its capital, however, other states remain to be an option if the aforementioned wasn’t possible.

For his part, Imran Suleiman, Advisor to the Commander of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), shared that forming a peace government is akin to attaining a dream for the various components of the Sudanese people.

He emphasized in a post on the (X) platform, the remarkable attendance that the Conference, which will -naturally- witness the Signing of the awaited Political Charter for the new Sudanese government, enjoyed.

He pointed out that one of the most important goals of the new government is to preserve the unity of Sudan, its land and people, in addition to liberating the country from the grip of the separatists “Warmongers,” and to erase them from the memory of the nation.

The announcement of the formation of the Sudanese Peace Government was welcomed by a wide range of Sudanese activists, as Sudanese activist Ali Al-Kanari expressed his gratitude to Kenya for hosting the Conference that will witness the birth of a new government promising to put an end to the violations committed by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) commanded by Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan against the Sudanese civilians.

Al-Kanari shared in a post on the (X) platform, “Thank you, our sisterly country, Kenya, for granting the Sudanese the opportunity to write a new history… Thank you to all the friendly, loving and supportive African countries aiming to stop the war and establish peace… Thank you to all the Arab countries that support the people and stemming the Sudanese bloodshed. My sincere gratitude to the entire world and organizations attempting by any means necessary to alleviate the humanitarian tragedy in Sudan… This is a significant step to put an end to the arbitrariness practiced by the Sudanese Army against civilians on racist and regional grounds.”

While the head of the Sudanese Civil Committees in East Darfur, Al-Nour Rabbah, stated in a post on the (X) platform: “Signing the Charter and announcing the Peace Government represents a pivotal step to put an end to the massacres and violations committed by the extremist Sudanese Army against the defenseless Sudanese people over the past decades and until today.”

He reiterated that “The future promises the establishment of a Sudan -free from ethnic and regional discrimination.”

The Kenyan capital, Nairobi, is expected to witness the Signing of the Political Charter to form the Sudanese Peace Government next Friday (the 21st), with broad participation of political and societal entities, after the Signing Ceremony was postponed yesterday, Tuesday.
