SAF loot and burn the property of the Canabi residents

In light of recent developments in the country, systematic violations against the Canabi residents in Al-Jazeera state have continued, as they are subjected to ethnic targeting and involuntary displacement with every military advance achieved by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF). The Central Committee of the Canabi Congress has continued to monitor these violations with great concern, holding the relevant authorities fully responsible for them.
On the 7th of January (2025), in (Al-Raql Al-Hairan) Kambo, the residents were attacked by mobilized fighters affiliated with the Sudanese Army, as a result, the residents’ livestock and property were looted. A local source stated that prior to the attack, a force from the Sudanese Army ordered the residents of the Kambo to evacuate the area, which they did, as they moved a distance of (6 to 7) kilometers away from the Kambo.
The source added, “However, a force consisting of mobilized fighters and Sudanese Army personnel attacked the residents at their new location at night. They looted their property and assaulted the women, one of whom was beaten until her hand was broken. In addition, three citizens were kidnapped, namely; (Abdullah Mohammed, Hamad Abdullah, Ezz El-Din Omar Mohammed) and their fate is still unknown, whilst the residents of (Al-Raql Al-Hairan) Kambo are suffering through tragic humanitarian conditions, with the interruption of communication networks and the devastating lack of the most basic necessities of life.
On the 28th of December (2024), a group of Army personnel from the town of (Al-Sharif Yaqoub) and the village of (Babanusa), supported by the (Sudan Shield Forces) and mobilized fighters, burned and looted the entire village of (Amarat Al-Sharif Yaqoub), which led to the involuntary displacement of its residents to neighboring villages amidst harsh conditions.
Local sources shared that on the 9th of February (2025), the village of (Al-Mabrouka), located north of (Umm Al-Qura), was attacked on an ethnic basis by mobilized fighters. The attack resulted in the killing of two citizens, namely; (Ahmed Mohammed Abu Nour, Adam Youssef), citizen Mustafa Yaqoub was injured as well.
In the locality of Al-Hasahisa (Kabkabiya), four citizens were arrested, additionally, one child was tortured until he lost the ability to sit, while another child was killed, and two were transferred to detention centers in the (Managil) area of Al-Jazeera state, in a flagrant violation of human rights.
Whilst the Central Committee of the Canabi Congress documented that some members of the Sudanese Army forced the detainees from the Canabi residents to wash their clothes and serve them, in a blatant act of immoral behavior that contradicts human laws and norms.
Local sources also revealed that the Sudanese Army and mobilized fighters arrested a number of citizens from the Canabi residents while they were working on their farms in the (Wawisti) area, and proceeded to accuse them of being affiliated with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) without any legal evidence.
The Central Committee of the Canabi Congress confirmed that the detainees are ordinary citizens, and demanded their immediate release or taking the necessary legal measures. The Canabi Congress also held the Sudanese Army fully responsible for any harm that may befall them.
Moreover, on the 8th of February (2025), the (Sudan Shield Forces) led by Abuagla Keikal burned down the village of (Bara), located north of Al-Jazeera state in (Al-Kamlin) Locality, and displaced its residents on charges of cooperating with the Rapid Support Forces.
The Central Committee of the Canabi Congress’ Position
The Central Committee of the Canabi Congress condemned in a strongly-worded statement these systematic crimes targeting the Canabi residents on the basis of race and color, which are being carried out by mobilized fighters and the Sudan Shield Forces led by the criminal Keikal, with either direct support or disregard from a number of official bodies.
These practices are a flagrant violation of all human values ,as well as national and international laws, its a shameful act coming from everyone who planned or participated n them.
The Central Committee of the Canabi Congress warned that the continuation of these violations won’t only harm the Canabi residents, but will push the entirety of Sudan towards further division and conflict, threatening the cohesion of Sudanese society, especially in Central Sudan, which is currently witnessing a rapid deterioration in regards to its security and stability due to the threat of such racist and exclusionary practices.
The Committee also stressed that the continuation of such crimes without accountability will lead to disastrous consequences for the country, and will pave the way for more chaos and escalation, the consequences of which won’t spare any party.
The Central Committee of the Canabi Congress called on the international community, human rights organizations, and concerned parties to intervene urgently to stop these heinous crimes, ensure the protection of civilians, and hold accountable those responsible for such violations that threaten social peace in Sudan.
