RSF seize control of northern White Nile state

Field sources in Sudan revealed a significant expansion of the Rapid Support Forces areas of control in northern White Nile state, where they set up more than (23) security checkpoints spread throughout the territory; from (Sheikh Al-Siddiq) area in (Al-Gutaina) locality, to the villages of (Al-Ahamda) and (Wad Jaboura) in (Umm Ramta) locality, with preparations to gain control over the area of (Shabsha) in (Ed Dueim) city, according to the Sudanese news website (Al-Rakoba).

For reference, the Rapid Support Forces completely control (Al-Gutaina) and (Umm Ramta) localities. Moreover, recent months have witnessed a noticeable escalation in the size and area of expansure of the RSF checkpoints.

Analysts believe that the attack carried out by Armed Movements allied with the Sudanese Army on Al-Zurruq area in North Darfur state may fuel ethnic tension between the Arab tribes that constitute the base of the Rapid Support Forces on the one hand, and the (Zaghawa) tribe, which forms the majority of the Joint Force, on the other.

The Rapid Support Forces accused the fighters of the Joint Force of killing civilians, burning nearby homes and public facilities during the attack.
