On the December Revolution Anniversary

Khaled Omar: There will be no return to darkness

The leader in the Coordination-body of the Democratic and Civil Forces (Tagadom), Khaled Omar Youssef stated that the glorious December Revolution was the product of a significant accumulation of continuous resistance by all possible and legitimate means.

He added in a post on the (X) platform, celebrating the anniversary of the glorious December Revolution; on this day six years ago, the people of Atbara took to the streets and burned the National Congress Party (NCP) Headquarters. It was a highly symbolic moment in time, blatantly conveying that the goal of the revolution was to end decades of tyranny by the Salvation (Inqaz) regime.

Khaled Omar Youssef continued to state, that following this incident, the Salvation (Inqaz) regime wasn’t fortunate enough to enjoy a single moment of peace, as university students, unions and professionals stood united in opposition, and a large number of people from all walks of life in Sudan took up arms against it.

He added: (The political Parties and Movements minced no words when it came to confrontation, as this accumulation resulted in a deep-rooted revolution, in which millions from all regions of Sudan participated, to declare with a united voice that the era of the National Congress Party (NCP) and its henchmen had ended, additionally, there will be no return to such darkness again).

(The defunct regime -quite desperately- attempted, with all its might to abort the revolution, for they made a failing attempt to deceive the public with partial change through the statement of the Vice-President of the regime, then they dispersed the sit-in in front of the Military’s General Command Headquarters, which was another attempt that was met with failure, they sought to stifle the Transitional Period and weren’t successful. In October (2021) they planned and excuted a coup, however, they didn’t succeed as well), according to Khaled Omar.

He added that the former regime (Waged a war on the entire nation with no goal in mind other than revenge on the revolution and burying it). He stressed that, (They won’t succeed in that particular endeavor, as the December revolution will inevitably triumph over their lies and crimes, our country will emerge safe, secure, unified, stable and free as the December revolution wished it could be).

He noted that, (War is the opposite of December in every possible way) and added (War is death and the December revolution is a call for peace and life, war is hatred and racism, while the December revolution is a call for unity and love, war is destruction and the December revolution is a call for construction and restoration).

Khaled Omar added (The war, as well as all its evils will soon seize to be, and the December revolution will rise -in a majestic manner- to complete the path from which it will not stray. Our path is that of the December revolution, we will continue to oppose the ongoing war in addition to any attempts to grant it even a silver of legitimacy).

The well-known politician and member of the Coordination-body of the Democratic and Civil Forces “Tagadom” stressed the necessity of putting forth efforts to stop the war peacefully, (As the December revolution taught us, peacefulness is our chosen tool), reiterating their commitment to the continuation of the path after cessation of hostilities, in order to complete the December revolution’s path, which the Sudanese people have defined and in which they clearly demanded freedom, peace and justice).

He concluded by stating: (The December path and the war path are opposites, that aren’t destined to meet, and we have chosen the December revolution path, from which the lies of war and its advocates won’t succeed in leading us astray.”
