SAF suffer significant losses in fierce battles east of Al-Jazeera
On Thursday, the Rapid Support Forces announced that it had successfully repelled a new attack by the Sudanese Army in areas east of Al-Jazeera state, inflicting significant losses in lives and equipment.
The clashes are an extension of the ongoing battles for the fourth consecutive day in different central areas of Al-Jazeera state, following the Army’s attempts to advance and regain control from the Rapid Support Forces, when the latter have controlled the region since December of last year.
The Advisor to the Rapid Support Forces, Al-Basha Tibeaq, stated on Thursday that the Army’s mobile force and allied militias attacked Al-Jazeera state from the east, and were destroyed.
He wrote in a post on the “X” platform, sharing: “The valiant RSF soldiers (Al-Ashaws) crushed the Army’s mobile force as well as the terrorist Al-Baraa Brigades and the so-called (Sudan Shield Forces), in the Umm Al-Qura axis. In addition, a number of four-wheel drive vehicles and 23-mm cannons were seized. Hundreds were killed and others taken as POWs, while Keikal, the traitor, who fled, is being pursued.”
Pro-Rapid Support Forces’ accounts posted videos on social media documenting some of the battles that erupted east of Al-Jazeera, as well as the Rapid Support Forces seizing military and combat vehicles, in addition to capturing soldiers (POW) belonging to the Sudanese Army.
Activists confirmed that forces affiliated with the “Army, Joint Force, and Sudan Shield” advanced to Al-Aribab Bridge yesterday, Thursday, before the Rapid Support Forces managed to surround them from several directions and eliminat them.
Sources indicated that the Rapid Support Forces assumed control of all the areas that the Army had previously announced its entry into during the past few days.
Currently, battles are raging in Al-Jazeera state in Central Sudan, and south of White Nile state on the border with the Republic of South Sudan. In addition, battles are taking place in border areas between North Kordofan and White Nile states, as well as in the “Hajar Al-Asal” area, River Nile state.
A series of airstrikes were carried out by the Sudanese Army on a number of areas in North Darfur state, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of civilians, according the Rapid Support Forces’ announcement on Wednesday.
“The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), under the ruthless command of Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and his murderous collaborators from the terrorist Islamic Movement, have perpetrated a barbaric campaign of airstrikes against civilian populations in North Darfur. On this tragic day, SAF warplanes launched devastating attacks on the towns of Al-Koma, Al-Zurruq, and Mellit, targeting innocent men, women, and children. These systematic assaults are not only a violation of international law but represent a flagrant act of genocide — an attempt to annihilate entire communities,” the Rapid Support Forces’ statement shared.
The Rapid Support Forces statement confirmed that warplanes carried out an attack on Al-Koma on Wednesday morning, killing and wounding more than (47) citizens, most of whom were women and children, amidst a devastating humanitarian crisis, compounded by a dire lack of medical resources and emergency care.
