UN announces death of staff member in El-Fasher

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Sudan (OCHA) reported the death of one of its staff members in an airstrike on El-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state.

The Office indicated in a statement published on (Facebook) that the ongoing conflict is causing the loss of many lives, reflecting the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the region.

This incident comes at a time when Darfur is suffering from an escalation in the conflict, which in turn exacerbates the suffering of the local population and complicates humanitarian relief efforts.
