Drones attack Atbara for the third consecutive day

Unknown drones launched intensive attacks on Atbara Airport and the Government Secretariat in Ad-Dāmar on Thursday, coinciding with the meetings of the leaders of the dissolved National Congress Party in the city.

Reliable sources from the city of Shendi stated that suicide drones targeted military sites in the city in conjunction with the drones that targeted the city of Atbara.

A military source added to (Assayha) that the drones that targeted the Government Secretariat in Atbara had a range of no more than (35) kilometers, which means they were launched from areas very close to the city.

The city of Atbara witnessed similar drone attacks during the past two days, targeting the Army Headquarters, according to eyewitnesses.

Drone attacks have continued during the past periods on a number of cities controlled by the Sudanese Army Forces and in which leaders affiliated with the regime of ousted President Omar Al-Bashir reside.

In June, the Army’s aerial defenses in Shendi shot down five drones targeting the Army Headquarters.

On April 2nd, during the holy month of Ramadan, an iftar hosted by Al-Baraa Ibn Malik Brigade -loyal to the Army- was attacked by a drone in a wedding hall in the city of Atbara, northern Sudan, which resulted in a number of deaths and injuries.
