An Army airstrike on Libya Market leaves 650 dead and wounded
In an airstrike launched by the Sudanese Army’s warplanes on Libya Market in western Omdurman, (150) people were killed and more than (500) others were wounded, amidst widespread condemnation of the massacre caused by the warplanes among civilians.
The Rapid Support Forces stated that the Sudanese Army’s warplanes, supported by the Egyptian Air Force, carried out airstrikes on a number of Sudanese states and regions, causing widespread destruction and killing thousands of innocent citizens, amidst an echoing silence from the international community.
Hundreds of people took to the streets of El-Geneina in popular protests demanding the international community to implement an air embargo -on warplanes- over the country, denouncing the Sudanese Army’s airstrikes, killing of thousands of citizens, and demanding that Army Commander-in-Chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan be brought to international trial for committing war crimes, crimes against humanity, and crimes of genocide.
The Rapid Support Forces shared in a statement:
These treacherous airstrikes of foreign invaders supporting the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and its allied militias linked to the terrorist Islamic Movement have escalated over the past 48 hours, unleashing a calculated campaign of terror against the Sudanese people, targeting innocent civilians and dismantling critical infrastructure across our beloved nation.
On Saturday evening, these vile aggressors unleashed ferocious bombings on the historic Libyan Market west of Omdurman and the 13 Market in Eastern Nile. The result was an unspeakable massacre – 650 innocent lives were snuffed out in an instant, with countless others left wounded and traumatized. These attacks left in their wake not just empty figures; they are the stories of women, children, and families burned alive in a monstrous act of genocide. But the brutality does not stop there.
These heinous assaults are part of a larger, systematic campaign of annihilation by the SAF, deliberately targeting civilian gatherings, bustling marketplaces, and vital infrastructure in Nyala, Al-Kuma, Saraf Omra, Al-Da’ein, Al-Geneina, Gezira, Sennar, Khartoum, and beyond. The death toll continues to rise into the thousands, as does the destruction of the lifelines of our nation.
Yesterday’s barbarism revealed, beyond all doubt, the true nature of the so-called “Sudanese Armed Forces.” These are not soldiers defending Sudan – they are butchers, terrorists who have hijacked our national army and turned it into a weapon of extermination, deployed against the very people whom it was sworn to protect. With the support of its foreign allies and the terrorist Islamic Movement, the SAF is working to execute a sinister agenda: destroying our country’s unity, dismantling its infrastructure, and erasing its future.
The desperation of these animals is glaring. These agents of chaos, driven by the fanaticism of the extremist Islamic Movement, lash out because they know they cannot prevail.
Their continuous defeats at the hands of the courageous and determined Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have left them cornered. In their cowardice, they have turned to the mass slaughter of innocents and the systematic destruction of our homeland.
To our brothers and sisters across Sudan: we see your pain and we share your grief. But we also share your unbreakable resolve. The RSF stands steadfast and will advance with purpose and determination, committed to defending our nation and our citizens. Every step forward on the battlefield is a step toward reclaiming Sudan for its rightful owners – the Sudanese people.
Our mission is clear and unwavering. We will establish a professional unified national army that owes allegiance to no faction or ideology – only to our country and the Sudanese people.
