Foreign Minister: We have no objection to establishing a Russian Military Base on Red Sea
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the de facto government in Port Sudan, Ali Youssef, stated that the United States of America harbor concerns in regards to the presence of a Russian Military Base in Sudan, and seeks to prevent it, adding: (The US ought to discuss the issue with Sudan).
The minister indicated in a television interview with Al-Jazeera: (There are four or five foreign bases in Djibouti; French, American and Chinese. There’s no problem, we have a coastline of more than 700 km… If you ask me, I have no misgivings about the presence of a Russian, American and French bases, and even if there are 20 bases, we would simply collect huge sums of money from them as our Djiboutian brothers do, and we’ll benefit from them by growing food and drink … etc., and these bases “will be preoccupied with one another” and we have no objections).
He continued: (Military bases are agreements concluded for real reasons, they aren’t like renting furnished apartments).
