A mysterious illness is claiming the lives of dozens of Sudanese
The Sudan Doctors Syndicate revealed on Monday that at least (73) people have died from a mysterious illness in the town of Al-Hilaliya, east of Al-Jazeera state, according to Reuters.
A man told Reuters that three members of his family had died from the same illness, but it wasn’t discovered until days later when others fled to an area with internet access.
The Syndicate and three others familiar with the matter stated that residents of the town had been suffering from diarrhea, which had increased the burden on the local hospital.
Satellite images in a report by the Humanitarian Research Laboratory at Yale University in the United States showed a rapid increase in the number of graves inside towns in Al-Jazeera state.
The war between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces in Al-Jazeera state, where the town is located, has displaced more than (135,000) people, according to Reuters.
Across Sudan, the war has displaced more than (11) million people and increased hunger amid fears of the imminent collapse of the entire state.
