Al-Fadil: Al-Burhan’s government is illegitimate and a National Task Force must be formed to lead the Army

The head of the Umma Party, Mubarak Al-Fadil Al-Mahdi, confirmed that the Constitutional Declaration doesn’t grant Al-Burhan the right to appoint a Prime Minister or form a government, noting that the current government lacks legitimacy, as it was formed after Al-Burhan’s coup against his partners from the Forces of Freedom and Change (FFC).

More than four months following his promise to form an emergency government to manage Sudan during the war, Al-Burhan made a limited ministerial changes, which observers considered a mere response to the demands of eastern Sudan and taking an interest in diplomacy and the media.

Al-Mahdi stressed that the current government, which was assigned more than (34) months ago, faces major challenges represented by the international boycott and sanctions imposed by the African Union.

He pointed out that any government formed in such circumstances, without political consensus, will face the same fate.

He also explained that civilian ministers are unable to take any effective steps in light of the escalation of military conflicts.

Al-Mahdi reiterated that any new government will suffer from an inability to meet the needs of citizens, which will lead to general discontent.

He stressed the need to form a limited national task force consisting of competent and experienced people to manage political and diplomatic relations, the peace file, in addition to leading the Army.
