Poll: 52% of Sudanese favor negotiation to end the war
The Horizon Center for Media Production and Public Opinion Measurement, conducted a public opinion poll via “X” (formerly Twitter) and Facebook platforms, which revealed that (52%) of participants preferred the option of negotiation to end the war in Sudan, rather than military resolution.
The center indicated that the poll targeted (5,256) activists on social media, and (712) people participated, while the number of those who interacted reached (1,424) individuals.
The questionnaire was distributed randomly via WhatsApp groups, in addition to publishing it on Facebook and “X”, taking into account the political and social diversity, as well as the age and gender differences between the participants.
The center provided three options for the participants to choose from, which are: The Army achieving victory in the current war, the Rapid Support Forces achieving victory in the ongoing war, or conducting negotiations to stop the war. The final result was a vote of (52%) in favor of negotiations to stop the war.
The Executive Director of the Horizon Center, Faiz Al-Sheikh al-Salik, confirmed that the survey comes within the center’s efforts to provide reliable information that supports decision-makers, in light of the lack of accurate data and statistics in media work in Sudan that can be of assistance in planning and addressing issues in a scientific manner.
Al-Salik added that the center will continue to conduct surveys to measure public opinion trends, expressing his appreciation to the participants and those who contributed to publishing the survey. He reaffirmed the center’s commitment to continue its efforts to support methodological approaches and formulate public policies based on the opinions of the masses.
