Eritrean forces enter Sudan under the guise of Eastern Orta amidst widespread criticism from Beja leaders
Informed sources revealed to (Alrakoba) that the forces announced to be deployed in eastern Sudan under the name of Eastern Orta Forces are in reality forces affiliated with the Eritrean Army and will be fighting in the ongoing war on behalf of the Sudanese Army under the pretext of belonging to the Eastern Orta Forces, in an attempt by Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki to provide military support for the Sudanese Army.
With the assistance of leaders from the east, including the head of the National Congress of Eritrean origin Ibrahim Mahmoud, Ibrahim Dunya and Al-Amin Daoud; the Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki seeks to control eastern Sudan as a strategic goal, in an attempt to exploit the current situation in the country.
A new militia announced on Tuesday the deployment of its forces in eastern Sudan, in coordination with the Army Forces that have been waging a fierce war against the “Rapid Support Forces” for more than a year and a half, in the first deployment of a militia in areas the war has yet to reach.
For his part, the Political Secretary of the High Council of Beja Nazirs and Independent Chieftains, Sayed Ali Abu Amna, warned against the consequences of deploying the Eastern Orta Forces in eastern Sudan and vowed to confront them. Sayed Abu Amna wrote on his Facebook account, “By God, the Army of naturalized Eritreans won’t be deployed in eastern Sudan except over our dead bodies,” before questioning the position of Nazir Terik, Abdullah Obshar, and Shaiba Dirar, saying, “Where are your armies and mobilized fighters? Will you remain silent about the naturalized Eritrean Army entering the east?”
The militia shared in a statement, “Your valiant forces, led by General Al-Amin Daoud Mahmoud, are being deployed to the eastern region, after a process of technical and military consultations with the Armed Forces,” according to what was reported by Agence France-Presse (AFP)
The statement continued: “This comes within the context of Eastern Orta Forces’ strategy to protect the land and honor alongside the Security system in the country.”
