SAF anticipating the end of alliance with the Movements by deploying the Beja Congress Forces in the East

The Beja Congress Forces, led by Musa Mohammed Ahmed, carried out a military deployment in Kassala state as well as cities and villages in eastern Sudan, in anticipation of the alliance with the Armed Movements coming to an end.

The relationship between the Army leadership and the so-called “Joint Forces” consisting of the Sudan Liberation Movement and the Justice and Equality Movement led by Minni Arcua Minnawi and Gibril Ibrahim respectively, is brimming with mutual accusations of stealing weapons and vehicles from the leadership of the Sixth Infantry Division in El-Fasher.

Gibril and Minnawi’s Movements placed numerous demands on the Army leadership to continue the partnership, demanding huge sums of money and senior positions in the government that Port Sudan intends to form, reserving the position of Vice President of the Sovereignty Council, Prime Minister in addition to the Ministries of Finance, Minerals, Foreign Affairs and a number of key positions.

The head of the Sudan Liberation Movement attacked the leaders of the Army and Islamic Movement in the Port Sudan government. Informed sources reported, according to “Sky Sudan”, that during a meeting that was shrouded in secrecy in the French capital, Paris, Minnawi informed a close circle of leaders from his Movement, of their intention to end the partnership with the Sudanese Army soon, and to take alternative measures (which he didn’t specify), indicating the widening gap between them and the Army leadership.

He acknowledged the error in choosing to support the Army, which is controlled by ethnic and political groups, adding that facts were revealed to them in regards to the control of the Islamists and the deep State over the decision-making in the State, stating: “Its no longer possible for us to continue in the same manner.”

Sources reported that the meeting touched on what was reported in the media about the “Joint Forces” Movements coming to an agreement in regards to a set of demands related to their participation in power in exchange for continuing to fight alongside the Army. Which Minnawi believed -during his briefing to those close to him- are essential and legitimate demands and there is nothing wrong with them.

Pointing out that their forces have continuously been at the front lines and presented hundreds of martyrs, some parties might wish for them to fight the battles alone, while a political movement is pursuing a racist agenda to divide the country and diminish the role their forces play in the ongoing war.
