A message to the Shukria Paramount Chief
Salah Jalal
I was surprised by your statement today calling for war in the name of (Shukria). Had you not published the statement yourself, I would have thought it was a plot against the Shukria Nazirate, which has a nationalist character. I had hoped that the Shukria Nazirate would maintain its distance in this war, and that the nationalist house of (Al Abu-Sin) would rise above the tribal deterioration towards war, as they’re Chief of the inhabitants of Al-Butana with its well-known diversity and variety, and you, the Abu Sin family, are national symbols of the country’s major issues.
It is rather unfortunate that the Shukria Nazirate has reached the level of tribal mobilization for fighting.
It’s a dangerous indicator that a person in your position would adopt such a statement that binds but doesn’t solve, makes everything difficult rather than easier. Your fathers used to pardon the murder without testimony or evidence. Its clear that this war is heading towards a comprehensive civil war.
I expected that the Nazir (tribal cheif) of Shukria would side with stopping the war, supporting peace and coexistence in Al-Butana in particular and Al-Jazeera and Sudan in general.
A few days ago, we were talking with one of the local government experts, who possesses great knowledge about the Native Administration in Sudan. Discussing the proposal to hold a national conference for the leaders of the Native Administration in Sudan* to support the cessation of war, contain the tribes from slipping down the path of war and combating hate speech. At the forefront of the names was your honorable person, Nazir Ahmed Mohamed Ahmed Abu-Sin, along with Nazirs from the Rezeigat, Messiria, Zaghawa, Ja’alin, Gawamaa, Bedaria, East and West of Rufaa, Sultan of the Falata, Mak Al-Funj and others.
Your honorable person’s name came at the forefront with our appreciation for a statement issued by you several months ago and remembering my phone call to you, congratulating you on that notable and responsible statement in which the wisdom of the Native Administration and its knowledge of societies was evident.
The statement called for unity and civil peace. Compared to today’s speech, it seems that the situation is deteriorating as it has reached the point where rational people adopted hate speech and tribal mobilization for the war, especially in Al-Jazeera, a region known for its tolerance and coexistence. I sincerely hope that the leadership of the dear Shukria tribe will walk away from this slippery slope as soon as possible, and even homer sometimes nods.
I am -to you- a sincere advisor and admirer
